Learn the basics of traditional hand broom making in this hands-on class with instructor Katie. Participants will craft their own hand broom using broomcorn, twine, and a spindle. Katie first learned this skill at a primitive skills gathering in Appalachia and will share the story and foundations behind this practical craft. You will be guided step-by-step through tying and shaping a hand broom—often called a turkey wing—and demonstrate techniques that can be continued at home.

Participants will leave with a sturdy broom perfect for light sweeping, altar care, or gifting.

Additional Info: Materials are included in the class cost.

Maximum Number of Participants: 13

Class registration closes at 4:00 pm MT on Friday for weekend classes.
