Vaginal Health & Hygiene Formula

This recipe was adapted from Sharol Tilgner’s book Herbal Medicine from the Heart of the Earth

These herbs have been known to be helpful for genito-urinary imbalances, as well as nurturing and healing for use in self-care practices. The great thing about this formula is that it can be made as a tea, vaginal steam or external wash.

2 parts Oregon Grape Root
2 parts Bee Balm
1 part Calendula
1 part Jasmine
1 part Lemon Balm
½ part Rose Petals
½ part Thyme
½ part Lomatium

Tea: Place 2 teaspoons of herb in one 8 oz. cup of water. Pour hot water over herbs and steep 15-20 minutes.
Vaginal Steam: Cover from waist down with towel, blanket or long skirt. Pour boiling water over 1-2 cups of herb mixture and hover over bowl or sitz bath basin for at least 20 minutes.
External Wash: Make tea and apply directly to the skin; easy to apply with a spray mister.




Well Woman Tea

This tea provides gentle nourishment for a woman’s cycle. It can be enjoyed hot or cold depending on your mood.

1 part Raspberry
1/2 part Lady’s Mantle
1/2 part Linden
1/4 part Calendula
1/4 part Red Clover
1/4 part Burdock
A Touch of Rose Petals
(parts are by volume)

Instructions
Use 1 Tbsp. of herb per 1 cup hot water. Cover and steep 15-30 minutes. Strain and enjoy.




Moon Time Madness

This tea blend is helpful for regulating menstrual related irritability and tension.

2 parts Jasmine
2 parts Linden
½ part St. John’s Wort
½ part Passionflower
¼ part Hibiscus
Pinch of Ginger
(parts are by volume)

Instructions
Use 1 Tablespoon of tea blend per cup of water, pour hot water over herbs and steep (covered) for 15-20 minutes.
