Rhassoul clay is a mineral rich clay traditionally gathered from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and long used in both skin and hair care. It offers a gentle yet effective way to cleanse and clarify without disrupting the skin’s natural balance.
Naturally high in silica, magnesium, calcium, and potassium, rhassoul supports elasticity, improves texture, and helps draw impurities from the skin while maintaining hydration. Unlike more strongly astringent clays, it leaves the skin feeling soft, calm, and nourished rather than tight or depleted. On the scalp and hair, it provides a conditioning cleanse that helps remove buildup, enhance natural texture, and restore softness and movement. During periods of transitioning away from conventional hair care, it offers a supportive way to cleanse the scalp and hair without stripping natural oils, helping to restore balance and natural texture over time.
It is especially well suited for dry or sensitive skin, as well as those seeking a more supportive and less stripping approach to cleansing. Rhassoul clay can also be used in place of shampoo as a gentle, mineral rich cleanser. Beloved by the women of Morocco, it has been used for centuries as a body, face, and hair treatment to mineralize the skin and support gentle cleansing.
Ingredients
Best suited for normal, dry, sensitive, and combination skin
1 Tbsp rhassoul clay
1 to 2 tsp water or hydrosol such as rose, helichrysum, or lavender
½ tsp honey (optional)

Directions
- In a small bowl, combine the clay with your chosen liquid and stir until a smooth, creamy paste forms.
- Add honey or yogurt if using.
- Apply to clean, damp skin and allow it to sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Keep the mask slightly moist on the skin by misting with water or hydrosol if needed.
