Copal is a resin, deriving from many different trees, that is in an intermediate stage of hardening. This particular copal is from the Bursera jorullensis tree in Mexico. It is firm in texture and white in color. It has a bright, light, citrus aroma. Copal has traditionally been used as an antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and to relieve nervous tension. The Maya of Mexico use copal for ritual and ceremony due to its cleansing, refreshing and meditative properties.
