Ashlee's Pick

Rosemary Gladstar's Family Herbal This is an invaluable reference book for "everyday herbalism." Rosemary is a practical, down-home herbalist. You can find recipes for medicine-making (teas, syrups, tinctures, etc), as well as for skin and body care. She's also included a section of plant profiles so you can learn more about our herbal allies as you try the recipes. Makes a great gift too!

The Secret Teachings of Plants
by Stephen Buhner
This is a wonderful book that presents inspiration for using the heart as a tool of perception. In this book Stephen walks you through ways of learning to communicate with the plant world by dropping out of your conscious mind and into the deeper realms of your being. He combines informative writing with prose and poetry and presents the information using the systole and diastole aspects of heart function. He paints a picture of how the physical and energetic movements of heart can relate to your communication with the world around you. A wonderful book for anyone interested in learning another dimension of the plant world!
