Mother's Day Girlcott

Mother's Acting Up, a nonprofit organization promoting the welfare
of children, is sponsoring a Girlcott of Rebecca's Herbal Apothecary
in downtown Boulder. Representatives from MAU will be in the shop
from 12:00pm to 2:00pm starting on Saturday, May 3 to promote the
Girlcott, which lasts all week. Rebecca will donate 10% of her proceeds
on May 3 to MAU.
The Girlcott is part of MAU's Reclaim Mother's Day events and is
designed to promote the purchase of fair trade, organic or local
gifts for Mother's Day. A girlcott is the opposite of a boycott
in that it targets local businesses that support sustainability
and encourages people to shop there. Like a boycott, a Girlcott
uses economic strength to create change and awareness of social
problems.
Rebecca's has many locally-made and locally-grown gifts for Mother's
Day. Rebecca carries her own line of handmade body care products,
produced right in her shop. Mothers can be pampered with locally-made
lotions, bath salts, spritzers, body scrubs, massage oils, facial
toners or floral waters. In addition, the shop has a large selection
of gifts made by local artists and craftspeople, including cards
and prints, aromatherapy pillows, sweet grass braids, smudge sticks,
beeswax candles, tinctures, garden statues and more! When in doubt,
you can always get your mother a gift certificate so she can treat
herself! Mother's Day is May 11.
