Herbs as Emotional Allies

In this class, we'll learn about herbs that can support us through the emotional ups and downs of life. Well discuss approaches for general support, as well as for specific emotions such as grief, anger, or fear. We'll talk about the qualities of different herbal preparations, including teas, tinctures, aromatherapy blends, baths, and more, and we'll have an opportunity to try some remedies together. Each student will go home with a tea sample, a personal medicine pouch created in class, and an informative handout.

Fertility Awareness Method Workshop

Join us for an insightful workshop dedicated to The Fertility Awareness Method. FAM is a method of observing and charting fertility signs to either avoid pregnancy, achieve pregnancy, or to monitor your gynecological health. FAM is an effective, well-researched method for determining fertility and infertility. It is also a powerful way to develop a deeper understanding and relationship with your body. The first class will cover the history of natural family planning methods and their effectiveness, basic physiology of the menstrual cycle and recognizing fertility signs. The second class will teach you how to chart, the rules for natural birth control, ways to maximize your chances of achieving pregnancy and how to use FAM to determine overall health.

Nourishing a Healthy Menstrual Cycle

In this informative class we will explore herbal and nutritional methods to support a healthy menstrual cycle. Periods need no longer be a negative event, instead we can learn to love and support our bodies through this beautiful process. Not only will we touch on overall menstrual health, but we will also address specific issues that can come up in a menstrual cycle and how to deal with them. These topics will include, hormone imbalances, PMS, heavy bleeding, cramping, acne and more. You will leave this class with information, recipes and a feeling of empowerment about your reproductive health.

Culturing Your Own Foods with Herbs

In this class we will talk about the benefits of fermented foods, natural probiotics, and how to create your own herbal fermentations in your home. Participants will leave with knowledge on how to make various fermented products using herbs and wild seaweeds including Kimchi, the traditional fermented pickle dish from Korea, Sauerkraut, Kombucha, and wild fermented honey wine!

Herbal Care for Children

It is empowering as a parent to have herbal allies that can soothe and treat your child's ailments. In this class we will discuss safe and simple recipes to treat coughs, colds, skin maladies, and many others. Making Herbal Infused Oils & Salves

Perfume Blending 101

Perfume blending is an alchemical art developed in ancient Egypt, refined by the Romans and Arabs and popularized by the French. From Queens to beggars, populations around the world have adorned themselves with everything from precious rose oil to animal musk. In this class, we will explore the basics of blending therapeutic grade essential oils for scent, and the various perfumery methods. Participants will leave with a sample perfume of their own creation.

Herbal Cordials for the Holidays

Cordials and elixirs are elegant liqueurs that contain a base of a particular spirit steeped with medicinal herbs which are decanted and then sweetened. This historical art form has evolved throughout the ages and is a predecessor to many famous liquors and schnapps today. These fun medicinal preparations make great holiday gifts and seasonal libations for parties, dinners, and gatherings with friends. In this class, we will learn how to create cordials to invigorate the heart, settle indigestion, encourage sleep, revitalize the spirits and much more. Participants will leave with recipes galore and samples of their favorite cordials.

Luscious Lips

Give the gift of homemade lip balms & glosses this holiday season! We will learn about all the basic ingredients, oils, butters, waxes, herbs, and essential oils that can be added to enhance the beauty or healing quality of your lip balms and glosses. Soap Making 101

The art of cold processed soap making is intoxicating. Learn to create soaps for the specific needs of your skin. This class focuses on vegan, palm free recipes and gives easy to follow instructions to give you the confidence to begin creating your own bubbly bars. Give the gift of homemade, nourishing lotions this holiday season! This class will give you simple techniques, tips and easy to follow recipes. You will learn the blending techniques for both beeswax and emulsifying wax lotions. We will also cover the different properties and benefits of lotions vs. creams.Participants will leave with recipes and samples of lotions made in class.

Herbal Chocolate Making
Tuesday, December 9th, 6:30-8:30pm

Gear up for the gift giving season and learn how to make your own chocolate! In this class we will cover the history and benefits of chocolate as well as how to make herb infused chocolates. Be prepared to get creative in the kitchen and make some of your very own chocolate to take home.

*Kid's Herbal Classes Details
Each class will include hands on participation and each child will go home with a remedy we make together. Classes are geared for children ages 6-12, but all ages over 4 are welcome to participate. Parents are encouraged to stay with children under 6, although parent participation is not required. Hot water and an electric stove will be used during class. Classes are limited to 10 children.

We recommend early registration. Payment for classes is made by cash or check payable to the instructor. Your space in the class is reserved once payment is received. Please be aware that classes fill up quickly, so sign up early. If you are not able to come by the shop with payment, you may send in a check by mail to:

Cancellation Policy
Refunds will only be given if you cancel your class at least 24 hours before the class begins.

All classes are held at the shop unless otherwise noted in class description. Rebecca's Herbal Apothecary & Supply is located at 1227 Spruce St. in downtown Boulder, Colorado. Between 13th Street & Broadway on Spruce Street, next to the Hotel Boulderado.
