If you are interested in creating your own bath and body products, this is a fabulous book to explore! There are tons of easy to follow recipes- from head (Herbal Hair Wash) to toes (Cornmeal Foot Scrub) and everything in between (Cold & Flu Bath Oil, Cocoa Butter Lotion, Elder Flower Toner and much more!) For hands on instruction and other ideas, come to the Lotion Making Class on February 17th and the Kitchen Cosmetics Class on March 18th!

Just in time for Valentine's Day! This book discusses everything you could EVER want to know about chocolate- from its chemical constituents and medicinal properties, to the "Alchemy of Chocolate". Almost half of the book is dedicated to delicious recipes like Chili con Cacao, Chocolate Banana Bread, and Chocolate Pizza! Yum!

The Natural Pregnancy Book by Aviva Jill Romm
This is definitely a must read for the holistically minded new mama. Romm covers a lot of ground from posture, to herbs and nutrition to your changing family dynamics; as a mother of three and midwife of years, she has a lot of valuable wisdom to share.

The Way of Herbs by Michael Tierra
This foundational herbal text is a wonderful book that opens the reader to the world of Ayurvedic, Chinese, Native American and European healing traditions. It includes chapters on diagnosis and therapeutic strategies, kitchen medicines and diet. This is a great overview of holistic health concepts for the newcomer to herbal medicine.

This book is a delightful read; she offers a shamanic approach to cultivation, preservation and ceremonial uses of herbs. Medicine Grove is infused with insightful stories of Kruden's experience and ends with a unique Materia Medica section. An essential resource for the Earth-centered herbalist!

Beauty by Nature by Brigitte Mars (a Boulder native!)
Book
This book has it all! Mars goes in-depth on a variety of topics ranging from skin and hair to breath and natural fragrance oils. She offers many simple body care recipes in each section and provides a clear picture of appropriate herbal and nutritional treatments. Mars is speaking to all humans with this very holistic book, men and babies included. My favorite part is the first chapter entitled: A Beautiful State of Mind by Nature.

Medical Herbalism by David Hoffman
A very thorough review of the science and practice of herbal medicine. In this indispensable reference Hoffman covers pharmacology, constituents, herbal actions, formulation and preparation and 12 chapters on treatment approaches for specific body systems. When I am looking for reliable formulas and well-researched safety protocols, I reach for this book.

Book
This is an amazing book for anyone interested in women's health. It gives and in-depth look at anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system including all stages of life from adolescence to menopause. It covers both common complaints, like PMS, and more serious disorders such as cysts and endometriosis and gives great therapeutic strategies, including both conventional and natural approaches. Comprehensive research based and easy to read, this is the first book I reach for when it comes to questions concerning women's health.

Sastun by Rosita Arvigo
This is a beautiful story of an American woman's apprenticeship with a traditional Mayan healer in the rainforests of Belize. Each chapter begins with a brief description of the uses and preparations of medicinal rainforest plants. Arvigo's story tells of the beauty and bounty of the rainforests and reminds us of the deep importance of preservation of the plants and the healing knowledge that resides there.

Ever tired of lugging around 20 different ID books on a plant walk in order to identify all the amazing plants in Colorado? This two volume set is by far the most comprehensive guide to wildflower identification. It is rare that I can't find a plant when I have these two books with me. Another great benefit is that the books are organized by petal color which makes for quick and easy identification. I think I can speak for all the women at Rebecca's when I say that these books are a must have for anyone interested in getting to know the local plants of Colorado.

Medicinal Plants of the Mountain West by Michael Moore
"This is a required text for anyone studying Herbal Medicine in our area. Easy to read and use, Michael Moore gives clear information on the appearance, habitat, collecting, ecologic status, primary constituents, preparations and medicinal uses of our wonderful local plants. His writing is really funny too. I've had my copy for over a decade now, and still use it regularly."

Earth Mother Herbal by Shatoiya De La Tour
The Earth Mother Herbal is such an accessible, lovely and easy to read herbal text. Totally comprehensive, it includes facts and folklore, growing and harvesting information, the medicinal uses and great recipes. I like that she focuses on 40 herbs, really going in depth with each. She also has an awesome section on herbal seasonal celebrations, which has menus for seasonal dishes, including teas and even herbal party games. So fun! I love this book.
